Late last night Luke and I rushed Staley to the emergency room at Duke. He had a fever, cough, congestion, and the saddest little whimper you have ever heard. Once in the ER, we learned (after a xray) that he had pneumonia. They decided to admit him and have run a ton of tests today to further confirm their diagnosis - tests from Catheters in the nose and nether region to a spinal tap. As we await our results, we are pleased to let you know that our little fighter is doing quiet a bit better. His fever is down and we even got a smile out of him (after many hours of not smiling). We have a while to go for the recovery but we are hopeful that all is good in the days/hours ahead.
Thank you to Liz Patterson - for her care and attention. Thanks a million to the staff here at Duke. We are forever grateful for all four grandparents who showed up promptly after their early morning call. Luke - I could not have gotten through last night without you. Thanks for being the family's rock - I'll stay in the roll as the family sap.
As grandma Schubert used to say, Tomorrow will be a better day. Here's a picture of a very tired but trying to be happy boy!
