It's such a beautiful day outside that Staley decided we had to spend alot of the day in the yard. Here's a picture before we set out.

Cutting Teeth

Our big boy is a bit of an overachiever and has decided to cut 4 teeth at the same time. Good thing he's cute, because mom and dad aren't getting much sleep!

Having Head Control

Daycare sent us this picture of Staley today with the caption "good head control." It's hard to believe that it takes an infant about 3 months to be able to control thier neck. It's amazing to see the changes he's making daily now.

President's Day

I picked Staley up yesterday from his classroom and this was hanging outside it. How funny!

What I learned While Away

Staley Bumm has found his voice and oh boy is he chattering up a storm. Last night at 1am and at 4am, we could hear him talking and giggling in his crib. Here's a short video of him talking... It really doesn't do him justice. It's non-stop all the time. I wonder who he gets that from?

Home Again Jiggity Jig

Staley is HOME! He looks like himself again too - laughing and dancing on the ground. On Saturday morning we went to a follow up appointment at our doctor's office. Staley wasn't breathing well so, they called an ambulance to help us drive in style back to the hospital. He spent two nights on oxygen and getting IV fluids. It was amazing to see how much better he got in such a short period of time. The virus he's been fighting is called RSV and it can pack a big punch.

I was actually surprised to find the ramifications this illness had on us. I had a hard time leaving the room that he was in. I re-traced all my steps to see where he might have contracted this illness and how we could have done things differently. The unconditional love that you feel for a child is amazing - we all went nights without sleep and there was no complaining. You just DO.

It also makes you realize what your parents have done for you over the years. Thank you to all for your prayers and thoughts.

Staley promises to grow big and strong.

Our Little Fighter Packs a Big Punch

Late last night Luke and I rushed Staley to the emergency room at Duke. He had a fever, cough, congestion, and the saddest little whimper you have ever heard. Once in the ER, we learned (after a xray) that he had pneumonia. They decided to admit him and have run a ton of tests today to further confirm their diagnosis - tests from Catheters in the nose and nether region to a spinal tap. As we await our results, we are pleased to let you know that our little fighter is doing quiet a bit better. His fever is down and we even got a smile out of him (after many hours of not smiling). We have a while to go for the recovery but we are hopeful that all is good in the days/hours ahead.

Thank you to Liz Patterson - for her care and attention. Thanks a million to the staff here at Duke. We are forever grateful for all four grandparents who showed up promptly after their early morning call. Luke - I could not have gotten through last night without you. Thanks for being the family's rock - I'll stay in the roll as the family sap.

As grandma Schubert used to say, Tomorrow will be a better day. Here's a picture of a very tired but trying to be happy boy!

The Mover

Staley has started moving all over his crib when he sleeps at night. Today, after nap time, this is how I found him. At least he's happy!

Showing off

Today it's just mom and Staley time because dad is sick and sequestered away. We tried sitting up and had some success. Check him out!

Naughty at Nighttime

Staley let's us know at night that he's about to start getting grumpy with sticking out his lower lip. We were able to get a picture right before he went down to bed last night.

Ms. Tracy from daycare sent us a text message this afternoon of Staley. All smiles!
