Yesterday

Yesterday was Staley's 6 month appointment. He did great - he took his shots like a champ. He's 18 pounds, and still in the 90th percentile for height. He was pooped after his visit. Here's a shot of him getting ready for the drive home.

6 Months

After 4 days of very little sleep due to a nasty ear infection. Staley gave us a 1/2 birthday present... sleep!

God Save the Queen

Staley got another ear infection, on top of teething... We are all walking zombies. I stayed home yesterday but today back to work. Queen B (aka Grandma Bumm) came in town to have a date with Staley. I hope she is wispering in his ear "sleep for your parents tonight."

Things that are making our family happy this week:
1. Amoxicillian
2. Beach this weekend
3. Queen B (obviously)
4. The Cleaning Lady - she came today. What a wonderful investment in sanity.
5. This not sleeping thing will eventually be over.
6. Even sick, Staley's a cute kid.
7. Luke makes a killer grilled cheese on gluten free bread. That combined with gluten free Tomato Soup and the "good" wine my parents brought over and didn't drink all of before leaving.. Last night wasn't so bad ;)

I See How It Is!

After our last visit with our pediatrician, we were told to listen out for Staley starting to form words. To this end, we've been letting him know who's name he should say first. This morning while Luke was feeding him breakfast, I stopped what I was doing to hear (drumroll): Dadadadada. Luke wins! I don't think Staley knows what he's saying yet but still, Luke wins. Darn!

In other news, Staley did sleep through the night one night this week. He also has begun teething like a mad man so... no rest for mom and dad. Oh well. I hope these teeth break out soon.

We also discovered ordering our groceries online and are now HUGE fans. This saves us so much time - any new parents reading - Do this. It was a great thing to do - no more late at night strolls into the grocery store or running out as soon as the other gets home to pick up dinner.

Mothers Day Weekend

I really am not a huge fan of the hallmark holidays. I told Luke that all I wanted was a nice card and spending time with the family. We had a terrific weekend of swim practice, a date night (thank god for Nalini), church and a birthday party at the park. Here are some pictures from our time at the park.

I love that his belly is starting to hang over his pants. How adorable!

Updates

  • Staley talks... he talks loud. Luke thinks he may break glass when he gets excited.

  • He's rolling all over the place. Take your eyes off him for a minute and he might be under the coffee table.

  • We are dropping his crib this weekend. He's started grabbing the top of the crib and I think it's only a matter of time before he starts pulling up. Crazy how quickly things change.

  • Food. Staley loves it. Was there ever any doubt? So far he's had only rice cereal and veggies. I've been cooking and freezing them up a storm. What's on the menu for this weekend? Squash and Zucchini!

  • We finally got wise to Staley getting up in the middle of the night. Deborah told us that he's "playing us." Well, play no more! We started sleep training and it's getting mixed reviews. He no longer is eating in the middle of the night- when he wakes up, we go in there and give him his pacifier and rub his back until he goes back to sleep. Day three and he's doing pretty well. Last night was actually his worst night. We are looking forward to the whole house sleeping!
